England vs Pakistan – Most dismissals by wicketkeeper
Pakistan cricket team has always been frantic for a complete wicketkeeper. And by a complete wicketkeeper we mean someone capable of good batting skills as well apart from swift hands behind the stumps. Indeed this is an era of shortcuts and even cricket teams demand players capable of doing more than one job. In fact the world is full of the best wicketkeepers always ready to shoulder the batting burden of a side. MS Dhoni and Quinton de Cock are the current examples of such marvels. Also in past there have been a number of legendary wicket keeping batsmen who would equally be remembered for their skillfulness in both fields. Take Mark Boucher, Kumar Sangakkara and Adam Gilchrist for example. All three players were equally effective behind and ahead of the stumps.
Unfortunately, Pakistan has always struggled to find the perfect match for this job. Though wicketkeepers like Moin Khan was good enough, however their secondary skill i.e. batting was not of top class. At the moment however Pakistan is contented with Sarfaraz Ahmed. The young Pakistani wicketkeeper has been somehow meeting the needs of his side both in batting and behind the wickets. Pakistan cricket team is in the middle of their tour to England. Considering the intensity of competition, the side requires purely professional player for all the fields. In such a demanding scenario, Sarfraz Ahmed has been doing a satisfactory job. Except for a few mistakes, in fact that is not a new thing for Pakistan players, he has been very good in wicket keeping.
As a matter of fact, Sarfaraz has made his name into history books after first innings of second test match. Pakistani wicketkeeper equaled the most dismissals by wicketkeeper record in England vs Pakistan test innings. Sarfaraz took a total of five catches behind the stumps to equal the likes of Wasim Bari and GO Jones. Most dismissals by wicketkeeper in an Eng vs Pak tests inning is now jointly held by Wasi Bari, GO Jones and Sarfaraz Ahmed.
