Fastest T20 Hundreds in International cricket history
T20 cricket is called to be much unpredictable and rightly so. In fact the reason no team can be termed as the best T20 side also lies in the fact that at a given day any underdog can outnumber the strongest cricket team. It is the format of hitting it often and hitting hard. The only team that gets a reasonably higher chances of winning is that having most number of best all-rounders in the world. Take for example the current West Indian side – loaded with players capable of both bowling and batting at much accuracy. However even that is not a pure guarantee for a side to be victorious. A much recent example of such match where West Indies despite showing their full batting strength almost lost to India was yesterday.
India in no way is a weak cricket team however when it comes to chasing almost 250 runs in just 20 overs even West Indians would have thought twice. But the unthinkable almost happened last night when India lost by just 1 run chasing a target of 246. Both teams played beautifully with fastest T20 hundreds on both sides. From West Indies it was Evin Lewis who reached his hundred in just 48 balls – fifth of the fastest t20 hundreds on international level. In reply KL Rahul from India got even further hitting the second fastest century in T20 internationals. Rahul took 46 balls to reach his ton just one short of Richard Lewi’s fastest T20 hundreds in international cricket history.
As a matter of fact KL Rahul’s ton was the joint second quickest hundred in fastest t20 hundreds list. The South African batsman Faf du Plessis has also scored a century off 46 balls against West Indies in 2015. Interestingly West Indies is the side most involved in fastest t20 hundreds record list. Either they have scored these or against them these have been scored. Here is the full list.
