At the start of this season Real Madrid manager Rafa Benitez handed down a challenge to Karim Benzema to score 25 goals this season and it looks that the Frenchman is completely focused on it. The 28 years old striker has scored 15 goals so far despite missing some of the games following his injury troubles. It is just 10 goals to get overcome the challenge proposed by the coach, but striker hopes to do so with a vengeance. If there is a player who this season is performing above expectations is Karim Benzema. The French, despite not having luck with injuries and not being part of the team that accompanies him, has accumulated 15 goals this season, 60% of many that Rafa Benitez challenged when the course began. Despite his personal problems, the striker has not dropped his performance but rather the opposite, having scored 15 goals in 15 games played (including two hat tricks) and rare is the match that sees no goal from the French.
Karim Benzema might just need 10 goals to reach the mark fixed by the coach but the striker wants to not only to reach that number of goals, but shatter that mark and prove he is a player able to score 35 or 40 goals a season despite not being a killer. Cristiano Ronaldo has been a little dull in Spanish league so far this season and in those time it was Benzema who gave Real Madrid advantage. For now, Benzema is on the right path, he is doing a tremendous job and the coach is really satisfied with his performance. In fact, the Frenchman is the only member of the BBC whose level is exceeding what was expected this season, something that does not happen with Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo till now. However both Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale are also getting in rhythm with the Welsh bagging four goals in the last match.
