Neymar dons Batman mask to attend friend’s wedding

Neymar has completed back-to-back La Liga and Copa del Rey triumphs with Barca last season. He is nearing the end of his summer break.

The attacker was excused from taking for his country at last month’s Copa America. It was at the behest of his club boss, Luis Enrique. But the former Santos player will soon catch up with his national squad to prepare for the Olympic football tournament. It gets underway in Brazil next month.

A number of Europe’s elite clubs were interested to snatch Neymar away from Catalonia. But he penned his new deal at the Nou Camp last week.

Neymar had cost Barca more than £50million when he signed in 2013. He had two years to run on his initial contract. He has agreed terms that will see him stay with the Spanish giants until 2021.

Close friend Martini had moved from Santos with Neymar. And he has been a key figure in his compatriot’s stunning success in Spain.

It is perhaps of little surprise, then, that Barca have written a striking series of release clauses into a contract that will pay Neymar a gross annual wage of £16.8million.

Given Batman’s alter ego Bruce Wayne is a billionaire, Neymar’s choice of disguise at the weekend’s celebrations couldn’t have been more fitting.
