Most sixes in Tests – most sixes in an innings of Test
India is clearly dominating the ongoing series between West Indies and India despite playing at the Caribbean soil. In the first game of the series, India outnumbered the hosts by an innings and 92 runs. This was the biggest margin victory for Virat Kohli led side outside Asia. Although there may be some voices suggesting that West Indies is not a good test team, the fact that at home even weak opponents show real resistance cannot be denied. A relevant example of such team is Bangladesh. The Bengal team though struggles in overseas tours, at home ground they have defeated many strongest sides so far.
Focusing back unto the West Indies vs India tour, the second test match is currently on its way. And as of this time India has grown a healthy lead over the hosts in first innings. Before this West Indies got out on a mere 196 runs. The only stat which appears to be in West Indies favor till now is the number of sixes hit by them. However the number of sixes hit by West Indian batsmen are nor most sixes in Tests still these hold a special feat. In their first inning West Indies hit a total of sixes, a number still a lot lower than 22 hit by New Zealand in one innings of test vs Pakistan. New Zealand’s 22 sixes are still most sixes in tests innings. So why there is the hype going around about West Indies 9 sixes?
Revealing the truth, West Indies 9 sixes scored a total of 54 runs off sixes. Out of 184 scored by batsmen these 54 runs off sixes make a total of 29.34% of the total score.
