Injury scare for Yasir Shah ahead of Pakistan tour of England

Pakistan cricket team who is scheduled to visit England for a bilateral cricket series comprised of four test, five ODIs and a lone T20 match in the mid of July are facing an injury scare for one of their main spin bowlers. The 30 year old leg-break spinner Yasir Shah who would be one of the main weapons in team Pakistan’s arsenal especially in Test matches, has got an apprehension of a previous knee injury. Pakistan tour of England will start form 14th of July in the summer with both teams contesting for a four match test series in the beginning. The test series will then be followed by a five ODI matches series and will be concluded with a single T20 to be played on September 7.

Yasir Shah has been one of the most successful test match bowler for Pakistan in spin bowling department. After Saeed Ajmal lost his effectiveness following ICC’s ban for his illegal bowling action, Yasir Shah came to rescue team Pakistan and got huge success. The leg spinner currently has 76 wickets in just 12 test matches with an economy of just 2.99 runs per over. However in recent times the bowler has been the center of controversies. Yasir Shah suffered a meniscus tear in his knee during the ODI series against England in the UAE in November last year. In December the bowler got provisionally suspended for getting a positive dope test. After his suspension ended on March 27 Yasir Shah participated in Pakistan Cup without undergoing rehabilitation for his knee injury which resulted in the flaring up of the injury yet again.

Pakistan Cricket team is currently camping in Abbottabad for the preparations of Pakistan tour of England and as it has been reported Yasir Shah has been ruled out of the training camp. The bowler is expected to undergo a conservative rehabilitation for four weeks from now on and PCB is hoping for his in time fitness ahead of the Pakistan tour of England 2016.
