Top 10 Highest Tenth wicket partnerships in One Day Internationals
Pakistan have lost the ODI series against England by a latent 4-1 margin. The miserable performance in limited overs cricket has been haunting Pakistan for quite some time now. The side has been crowned as the world champions once in 1992. However has now moved to its lowest ever One Day International position. 9th position is the lowest for Pakistan since the introduction of ICC rankings system in 2001. The overall performance of the side including captaincy has been poor. There are chances of the removal of current captain Azhar Ali from the charge as well. Still there are some positives which can be taken into account for the future betterment. Imad Wasim from Pakistan emerged as a reliable all-rounder capable of handling the situation while Sarfaraz Ahmed also got fluent with his batting.
Another improvement that has been remarkably visible is the batting performance from Mohammad Amir. One of the best young pacer at the moment could not live up to the expectations linked with his bowling before the tour however he came up as a handy batter in the end overs. Although he was not extraordinary with his bowling in the series, the blame cannot only be given to him as Pakistani fielders wasted a dozen chances on his bowling. Mohammad Amir and Yasir Shah recorded one of the highest tenth wicket partnerships during the match who had the highest ODI total in history.
In reply of England’s record breaking 444 runs Pakistan had lost almost all of his batters under 200 runs. But the last two players somehow managed to escape the biggest defeat for them as both played good aggressive cricket. It was Mohammad Amir who scored the joint second fastest fifty for Pakistan reaching the milestone in just 22 balls. Both players scored a total of 76 runs the fifth highest tenth wicket partnerships in ODI history. As for the record, IVA Richards, MA Holding hold the feat of scoring most runs together for the last wicket.
