1.Benazir Bhutto’s Murder

On December 27, 2007, murder of Benazir Bhutto, the former prime minister of Pakistan occurred in Rawalpindi. She was campaigning ahead of elections scheduled for January 2008. She was in a political rally at Liqaut National Garden when shots were fired at her and a suicide bomb was detonated immediately following the shooting. She died in Rawalpindi General Hospital. In the suicidal attack twenty four other people lost their lives. She had previously survived a similar attempt on her life in Karachi in which 139 people lost their lives.

Cause of Death

Interior Ministry suggested many reasons behind the death of Benazir Bhutto. Even the senior members of Pakistan People’s Party were not on the same page in this regard. One of Pakistani doctors who treated Bhutto said that Pakistani Authorities took Bhutto’s medical record immediately after her death. They also told the doctor to stop talking about this case. It is fact the crime scene was cleared before any forensic examination could be completed. Unfortunately no formal autopsy was performed before burial. Asif Ali Zardari, Benazir’s husband did not allow a formal autopsy to be conducted. Even Scotland Yard could not conclude the actual cause of her death. General Muhammad Zia ul Haq was born in the year 1924. He was the president of Pakistan and the Chief of Army Staff at the time of his death. He died in a mysterious C-130 plane crash on August 17, 1988. High-profile civilian and military personnel also lost their lives in the crash. Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Akhtar Abdur Rehman, the US Ambassador to Pakistan Arnold Raphael and General Herbert M. Wassom, the head of the US military aid mission to Pakistan also lost their lives in the lethal crash.

US sent a team of US Air Force Officers to help Pakistan in the investigation. The investigations teams from US and Pakistan reached sharply different conclusions.

US Conclusions:

The Widows of late US Ambassador and late Brigadier General Wassom were told by US investigator that the crash occurred due to mechanical problem common with C-130. Investigator told them that a similar incident had occurred to a C-130 in Colorado which had narrowly avoided crashing. It was said there was hydraulic problem in the tail assembly in C-130 and Pakistani pilots did not have adequate skills to fly C-130.

Pakistani conclusions:

Pakistani investigator released a summary of a secret 365-page report some weeks after the crash. They revealed the possible problems with the aircraft’s elevator booster package and frayed or snapped control cables. Pakistani report concluded that the contamination of the elevator booster package might at worst have caused sluggish controls leading to over control but not to an accident. Pakistani investigators concluded that the crash was due to an act of sabotage. They said that the small explosive material was detected in mango seeds and a piece of rope found on the aircraft. It was also concluded that the use of a chemical agent to incapacitate the pilots and thus perpetuate the accident therefore remains a distinct possibility.


General Hameed Gul the Head of ISI suggested that US might be responsible for air crash. He further said that Pakistani president was killed in a conspiracy involving a foreign power. It was also suggested that CIA, MOSSAD or KGB were most likely to kill General Muhammad Zia Ul Haq. Many people were in the view that he was killed by anti- Zia group Al-Zulfikar led by Murtaza Bhutto, General Mirza Aslam Baig or Allama Ariful Hussaini the chief of the Tehrik Nifaz Fiqh-e Jafaria. Liaquat Ali Khan was shot twice in the chest during a public meeting of the Muslim City League at Rawalpindi on October 16, 1951. A police officer immediately shot the assassin named Syed Akbar Babrak. Liaquat Ali Khan was rushed to a hospital and given a blood transfusion. He succumbed to his severe injuries. He was serving from Nov. 20, 2000 until his accidental death in a planned plane crash happened on Feb. 20, 2003. When he was died, his age was only 55 years. He belonged to a middle class Kashmiri family. In the plane crash he lost his life along with his wife Bilquis Mir and 15 other officers on board. Their Fokker F-27 crashed during a routine flight to PAF Base Kohat. Two Principal Staff Officers, Abdul Razzaq (Air vice Marshal, Training) and Saleem Nawaz (Air vice Marchal, Administration). Pakistani government told the cause that the crash was due to pilot error and adverse weather conditions.

He writes about the failure to prevent 9/11, that Osama struck a deal with Pakistani ISI through Mus’haf Ali Mir to get protection and arm supplies for Al-Qaeda in 1996. The secret meeting was blessed by Saudi Arabia through Prince Turki Bin Faisal Al Saud. He was the Saudi Intelligence Chief. But the situation changed after the invasion of USA on Afghanistan. After the U-turn of Saudi and Pakistani Governments, three Saudi princes associated with the deals died within days. 8.Ehsan Elahi Zaheer’s Murder

Allama Ehsan Elahi Zaheer was born on May 31, 1945. He was a Pakistani Islamic theologian and leader of the Ahl al-Hadith movement. Ehsan Elahi Zaheer studied at Jamia Islamiyya Guranwala and at Jamia Salafiyyah in Faisalabad. He also studied at Islamic University of Madinah in Saudi Arabia. In Saudi Arabia he studies under Muhammad Nasiruddin al-Albani and Abbd-al Aziz Ibn abd-Allah Ibn-Bazz. He had been the adviser of Islamic affairs to General Muhammad Zia ul Haq. Mustafa Zaidi was a most talented CSP officer and was a well known poet. He was born in Illahabad, India on Oct. 16 1930. He is believed to have been murdered in an apartment in Karachi where he was residing. He was found dead alongside Shahnaz Gul on Oct. 12 1970. Shahnaz Gul was a popular socialite girl. She was initially charged with murder. He died in the age of 39. Shahnaz Gul was the subject of his several poems. About the untimely death of Mustafa Zaidi, there are two different views. According to the first view, Mustafa Zaidi was poisoned by Shahnaz Gul. On the other hand, it is said that Mustafa Zaidi had committed suicide.
