Cristiano Ronaldo waves goodbye to Old Trafford?

Just a few days ago, we received the news that Ronaldo wants to leave Manchester United and Old Trafford. According to the British newspaper The Times, Ronaldo wants to be sold if the club receives a satisfactory offer. We don’t know if this will happen, but as he is one of the world’s greatest players – an offer will probably appear soon.

This news was much more shocking than the as very few people saw this coming. What will United do without him? Where will he go? How high will the fee be?

Will he leave?

Cristiano Ronaldo’s time at Old Trafford may be over. Manchester United are not part of the Champions League predictions this year and this hurts the Portuguese international who returned to the Manchester club last summer, twelve years after he first left the club. Ronaldo was crucial to the team several times last year and scored 24 goals in 38 games – in what was a particularly bad season for the big club. Bruno Fernandes (10 goals) was the only other United player to reach double-digit goals during the season.

But now Ronaldo may be on his way away from the club, and according to The Times, he has asked the club to accept a bid if it is of a satisfactory size. According to The Athletics’ David Ornstein, Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, met with Chelsea’s new owner last week. Ronaldo is said to have been discussed there. Manchester United confirmed in May that Erik ten Hag would take over as the club’s new manager. In this connection, the Dutchman was asked if Ronaldo was part of his plans. “Of course,” Ten Hag replied.

The future

Manchester United ended the 2021/22 season all the way down in sixth place in the Premier League and thus will not play in the Champions League next season. The Times claims that Ronaldo’s decision to open the conversation of a transfer is because he truly desires to play in the Champions League during the very last years of his career. Maybe he’ll start a new career as a comedian.

Ronaldo was brought to Manchester United when he was 18 years old in 2003 and quickly became a star of the team. Especially from the 2006/07 season onwards, Ronaldo has been among the top scorers in men’s football. During nine seasons at Real Madrid, he scored 450 goals in 438 games. At the same club, he also won the Champions League no less than four times.
