Those are miles, not kilometers. Considered the toughest 100 miler in the US, the Hard rock 100 takes place at an average altitude of 11,000 ft (3,500 m). The terrain is technical and thunder storms are not uncommon. Mountaineering, wilderness survival and navigation skills are as important in this event as your endurance,” say the organizers. Your only chance of sleep and rest is at one of the checkpoints – which happen to be 26 to 70 miles apart.How tough is the 6633? “It is flippin tough. I mean really tough. No seriously, I really do mean it”, says its founder, Mike Likey. Only 11 people have successfully completed the 350 mile race in its six year history.

06. Norseman Xtreme Triathlon

You’ll then cycle 112 miles across five mountain passes, before running a complete marathon that finishes on the 1850m high summit of Gaustatoppen. As though that weren’t enough, the weather is notoriously unpredictable – the race takes place on the same latitude as Anchorage in Alaska.There’s also the matter of the coveted Black Finishers T-shirt. If you want one of these, you need to be one of the top 160 competitors at the 32.5 km point of the marathon, who are allowed to finish on the summit. Those outside the cut off get turned around to finish on the lower plateau, receiving a white T-shirt.

In this race participants have to cover the distance of 300 km and to climb 15000 m. climate is wet and cold in this region.First held in 1992,it is the race with no trails. it took 20 years for the race to make a comeback in 2012. Afterwards, one seasoned ultra runner stated that any day of the Dragon’s Back Race was tougher than any of the 100 milers he’d done – and he’d done over 100 of them! Held on a unmarked course, participants have to straight-line navigate across the harshest terrain Wales has to offer, often in poor visibility.
