If anyone has any doubt about the durability of the Zidane effect at Real Madrid should take note of the staging of the whites against Sporting. In his second game as the manager, Zinedine Zidane side crushed their guests for a 5-1 home victory. Zinedine Zidane’s first game with the team was also won by Real Madrid with five goals and for the second successive time the squad has given him a five-star performance. The Santiago Bernabeu enjoyed a first half-hour of honors as the whole BBC fired some earlier cracks to make the opponents helpless. Gareth Bale gave a perfect start to Los Blancos scoring in just 7^th minute of the game. This is the Welsh’s fourth goal under Zinedine Zidane and the striker was said to be not happy with the appointment of new manager. The party was soon joined by the rest of BBC trio hitting back to back goals to take the lead to 4-0 in just 17 minutes. The goals came from the foot of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema-who was standing with his 300^th appearance for Real Madrid. Cristiano Ronaldo, Bale and Benzema took just 10 minutes to score 4 goal for the side, that too in the very beginning of the game giving no chance to the opposition to stand.

As compared to the first 45 minutes the second half was far less intense by Real Madrid. The 5-0 lead had left the game almost decided, coupled with the fact that significant workload the Real Madrid players have been facing during the week. So the second half was what might be described as an ‘active relaxation’ for the side as they already had done the job. A little resistance though came from Sporting as Isma Lopez got a ball past Keylor Navas but that did not matter much at that stage of the game.
